Lifetime of Words

As you get older,
do the words grow colder?
what once came pouring out
now I'm lucky if I get the odd spout
looking back, it makes me feel proud
I wish my inspiration now could be so loud
The words would form beautiful patterns
Now I search for them like hidden treasure
Locked somewhere deep beneath
It's like to unlock them would be a forbidden sin
Come out, Come out, wherever you are
Wherever you are, surely you can't be far?

A Rather Inspired weekend

3 poems written this weekend!

on friday...(19/10/12)
a small wish

I need the words back
the words I used to know
please bring them back to me
so holy and free
please help me to see
what's right in front of me
it's there all along
just learn the words to the song
beautiful words
where have you been
it's been so long
there's still more
it's hidden at the core
your base core
needs to identify
needs to verify
pen to paper
let it flow
let it go, let it out
you know it's in there
just set it free

Goddess

Breathe in, Breathe out
Goddess in, Goddess out
within and without
round and about
the Goddess breathes as we do
In and out
inside out, upside down
it doesn't matter which way we look
you won't find her presence in a book
she's in you, she's around you
searching your soul
making you whole.

Breathe in, Breathe out
Goddess in, Goddess out
Let's not forget our connection
as we search for the answers
to our soul seeking questions
she is I, and she is you
she is the sky, she is the sea
she is the spirit inside of me

come, won't you see
this mystical union is free
Goddess in, Goddess out,
I have no doubt.

Sunday (21/10/12)- Inspiration
Standing at the pearly gates
but this isn't Heaven
this is the blank, blank sheet
staring at me, teasing me
waiting for me to fill it
with juicy words
perhaps even men with swords
fairies, angels, vampires or even just ordinary people
waiting for me to direct their narrative

But I'm struggling to open the gate
and the page remains white
no words seem quite right
the lines blur
as thoughts start to occur
letters begin to form
and a new life is born.

The gate has been unlocked
and all I had to do is knock
the words have returned
like a long lost friend
what was once broken, is now on the mend
welcome back
I promise this time, I won't give you the sack.

Stop and Stare

We have no time to stand and stare
Life is busy and hectic
No time to stop and care.

Eat, Work, Sleep
24 hours goes past in a blur
Leaving you in a shattered heap
then the cycle starts again
Eat, Work, Sleep.

No time to work on that tan
Money makes the world go round
or so some people say
Forever in that same old circle, bound.

But if we never stop
what do we miss?
Singing and dancing to Blitzkrieg Bop?
The lust and passion of that great kiss?

Break the cycle
Get on that bicycle
Stop and explore
Don't just ignore
Life is beautiful
so take the time to stop and stare.

Ode to Patti Smith

Patti Smith
your songs touch my soul
the tortured poet
the heroine of lyrical content
your songs can make the moment seem more real
dancing barefoot to rock n roll nigger
you never fail to leave an impression
you're a goddess
and the godmother of punk
I dream of sharing your vision
and meeting your muse
in my own words
Patti, you are golden
like the sun
keep writing
and keep inspiring
as your words could never grow cold.

The River

The water flows past the rocks making a fast paced journey to the other side. So may obstacles to get past. The rocks, the biggest challenge of them all. They're hard and tough but the fast flowing water manages to overcome the problems to get where it wants to go. Nothing ever stops the water moving on. Nothing is too huge to get in it's way. It doesn't think "oh no a rock! I'll never get past it!" It doesn't stop and think at all. It just carries straight on, not letting anything hinder its journey.

I need to become at one one with the river. We all need to become more like the river. We need to go with the flow of life. Every person is on a journey. Some of us dream of having a satisfying career, others want to create loving family. All of these dreams have their obstacles. The artists of the world get blocked, a woman may find herself infertile. It may seem that our dreams will never come to fruition so we repress them and just carry on with a meaningless job or simply give up trying.

But dreams can come true. The flowing river knows this. To be like the river, we must push through the 'rocks'. Instead of repressing ourselves, do little things to help you achieve that dream. One little thing a day could bring you so close in a short period of time. No one says you have to give up your job (unless you can afford to)! Perhaps start looking for the right job on your days off, or do some research on the internet or the library. If you're having trouble finding a relationship, take some time out for yourself- love YOU!!! Nothing is more attractive than someone who believes in themselves.

You can push through those rocks just like the river. A little at a time can lead you a long way. You never know when the universe might just decide to make your wish come true!

November!

Hello readers,

Sorry I haven't been updating too much recently, this month I am taking part in NaNoWriMo! it's actually my sixth year in a row, but I've never managed to get anywhere near the 50,000 words. This year I have been doing really well with my word count despite not knowing what my plot was going to be, and I'm still not exactly sure. I thought it was a sci fi novel to begin with but now it seems it's actually a fantasy novel, and is getting more and more complicated and ridiculous by the minute! I am finding listening to shouty riot grrrl music very helpful to my creativity as well as following @NaNoWordSprints very helpful.

the funny thing is that since I've started this year, I have started to feel inspired to write other things too (and inspired to actually do some other things too) but I have to focus on this for now!

I'm off to write my novel!
